OECHSNER FARMS: AN ORGANIC GRAIN FARM
1.5 hours (website)
Oechsner Farms is really about the people who work, live and sweat here.
Thor Ochsner grew up in the suburbs of New York City and started farming in his parents' suburban yard after visits to his uncle's farm in rural Pennsylvania. In 1998, he purchased a 15-acre farm that is now Oechsner Farms. When he had enough acres in production and enough equipment in the shop in 2003, he began to devote full-time to grain farming.
Today's farm produces 1200 acres of corn, winter and spring wheat, buckwheat, rye, soybeans, clover, hay and cover crops.
